Feast of music,food and fairy lights

Mentors Country Estate on the outskirts of Jeffreys Bay will be turned into a magical world of lights this December. The J-Bay Holiday Festival, Festival of Lights is set to take place from Sunday, December 19 until Thesday, December 21. A wide range of exciting events and competitions will form part of the event, but, you will have to hurry; only a limited number of entries will be accepted.
SPAR Potjiekos competition A potjiekos competition is to be held at the Arts and crafts market area on Sunday, December 19, the first day of the festival. Only the first 20 entrants will be accepted. Entry fee is R100 per group of four contestants and you will not have to pay an entry fee at the gate.
The deadline for entries is Friday, December 17. You can make any kind of potjie. The winner of the best potjie stands to win a cash prize of RI 000 with R500 up for grabs for the best stall and the best team spirit. Contestants will also receive hampers from Spar, Marina Seasalt, Distell, KWV and Castle. For more information, contact Richard Smith on: 082497 2014.
Superstars with Patricia Lewis All prospective super stars will get the opportunity to launch their careers at the festival.
And it is not limited to young people only, there is no age limit. So, if you think you are the next Susan Boyle or Elvis Blue, here is your chance. Our own blond ambition, Patricia Lewis will host the event. Entries must be submitted on the day of the event, Thesday, December 21 from 2:30pm at the hall where the artists will be performing during the festival.
No entries will be accepted beforehand. Any legal backtrack on CD may be used and must be submitted during registration. You can sing any song in any language. Contestants will only have to pay an entrance fee to the festival and entry to the competition is free. Auditions will be held from 3 pm until 5 pm. The finalists and winner will be announced during Patricias show at 8pm that evening. The winner will receive a gift pack from Sony.
Face of J-Bay On Monday, December 20, Mould Model Academy will be hosting a beauty pageant at the Hall in Mentors Country Estate during the Festival. There will be two categories: Junior 6-13 years and Senior 14-18 year& Entry forms are available at the venue. The entry fee is R50. Models can wear any summer clothes of their choice. Prizes will be sponsored by RRad Photography and Woolworths, Walmer Park.
