EXCITING EVENTS NOT TO BE MISSED:
Citrus Festival ( 13 June 2015)
Absa Kirkwood Wildsfees (26-28 June 2015)
Situated in the Sundays River Valley, the Addo area is known as the valley of elephants and roses. The area encompasses the towns of Addo, Enon & Bersheba, Kirkwood and Paterson. These quaint towns take you on a journey to a forgotten era of tranquillity and comfort which comes naturally with small town living and is complimented by the hospitality of its friendly inhabitants.
The neighbouring areas are primarily citrus farms and when the trees are in full blossom, the smell of citrus permeates the air. These surrounding farms give the Addo area some of the most vibrant and breath taking views in the Cacadu district. The citrus and rose trees which fill the area create an atmosphere of charm and beauty which is hard to find in our industrialised cities.
The land is rich in colour, smell and sound, and ignites the senses as you meander through each of the little towns taking in every inch of its unspoilt beauty.
Although the area offers visitors serenity, there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy with the Big7, boat cruises, quad biking, elephant back rides, and so much more. The Addo area is a place where one can experience every aspect of African culture in the most beautiful and vibrant of surroundings. The quiet tranquillity of the area does not detract from the vibrancy of its people, nature and the animals which inhabit it.
Addo is host to many delightful festivals throughout the year such as the Kirkwood Wildlife Festival in June, the annual Rose Festival in October and is also home to many exclusive game reserves including the Addo Elephant National Park. Interact with cheetahs and reptiles, take a horse ride through the beautiful surrounds or a cruise down the tranquil Sundays River, take a ride on or walk with the mighty animals of the area, the Addo elephants, or learn about the areas enthralling history on a guided walk. The Addo area promises a full and unforgettable African experience
